How to make the custom cursor bigger
October 23, 2025
Before adjusting your cursor size, it helps to understand a bit about how cursors work on Windows.
Windows uses two main file types for cursors:
- .cur files are static images, usually designed at 32×32 or 48×48 pixels but can go up to a maximum of 128×128 pixels.
- .ani files are animated cursors made up of multiple frames at similar resolutions, but the maximum resolution allowed by Windows in this case is 64×64 pixels.
Many older cursors were created only in standard pixel sizes, so enlarging them can sometimes make them look slightly blurry.
However, the custom cursors offered here are HDPi compatible, meaning they include higher-resolution images that stay crisp and clear, even when you make them larger.
With that in mind, here’s how to increase your cursor size in Windows 11.
Step 1: Open the Accessibility Mouse Settings
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- In the left sidebar, select Accessibility.
- Scroll down and click Mouse pointer and touch.
Step 2: Adjust the Pointer Size
- Under the Mouse pointer style section, you’ll see a Size slider.
- Drag the slider to the right to make your cursor larger, or to the left to make it smaller.
- The live preview updates as you move the slider, so you can find a comfortable size instantly.
Your cursor size is now updated.
Step 3: Reapply Your Custom Cursor
When you change the pointer size, Windows resets your cursor scheme to the default. Don’t worry—your custom cursor isn’t gone. You just need to reapply it:
- In the same Mouse pointer and touch settings page, scroll down and click Mouse settings.
- Then select Additional mouse settings.
- In the new window, open the Pointers tab.
- From the Scheme dropdown, choose your custom cursor scheme (the one from our site).
- Click Apply, then OK.
Your custom cursor will now appear again, perfectly resized and looking sharp thanks to its HDPi compatibility.
With these steps, you can enjoy your personalized cursor in the size that suits you best—clear, stylish, and built to scale beautifully on any display.
